Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American flisters!

We're at Mom's in Ohio, and the turkey roasting in the oven smells fantastic! There will be stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, creamed corn, rolls, cranberry salad, and pumpkin pie. (I made a sugar free pie for me.)

Later we'll all gather in the TV room and watch UP! and Star Trek reboot. Holidays rock!

I hope you're all having a lovely day, surrounded by loved ones and tons of good food. Or, you know, however you want to spend it. :)

I haven't been very chatty, have I? There is actually stuff going on around here. selannia and I went to see New Moon on Saturday. As expected, it was way sappy, angsty, and mostly craptastic. However I give two thumbs up to Jacob, his rippling muscles, six pack abs, and mega watt smile. And Chris Heyerdahl and his lovely voice. Although please to be giving him more lines the next time the Volturi show up.

After the angsty teen vampires and werewolves, we joined Mr. Beeej back here at fangirl central for the last quarter or the Ohio State - Michigan game. Then there was Merlin being all adorable, and after that? We watched the entire series of Blackpool. selannia has decided that we need much more of David Tennant licking ice cream cones. I really can't find a flaw in that idea.

On a personal level, for those keeping track, My blood sugar has gone from a fairly scary 279 to the current 137. I still need to bring it down a wee bit more, but I'm calling this a win. Now to implement the excercise portion of this plan. After Thanksgiving. ;)

We're kidnapping selannia and taking her on a road trip to Ohio for Thanksgiving with my family. There will be lots of food, dogs to play with, and if we're lucky maybe even a bit of snow. :)

Sorry I haven't been around much. I know, I'm behind posting Merlin episodes. I've been kinda mentally absent for the past week. I had a doctor's appointment early last week so that I could get my blood pressure meds renewed. And since I've had such a rough year health-wise, he decided to run a bunch of extra blood tests and such. The nurse said that if there were no issues, they'd just mail me the results. So when I got a message a couple days later that the doctor wanted to discuss my results in person...I was less than excited. See, my blood sugar has been borderline high for several years. It's not borderline anymore. I am officially diabetic. I'm hopefully a long way from having to take insulin, but I have to stick myself and monitor my blood every morning, and I've got pills I have to take. And I have to change my diet. AND I'm supposed to get half an hour of excercise five days a week. *sigh* Anyway. No pity party necessary, because I'm fine. Really. It's totally manageable. I've been feeling like crap for a while now, and in a few months I should feel a lot better, so yay for that.

I'll get caught up on Merlin and stuff in a day or so. I promise. :)

Oh, SPN. Don't ever change. :D

I always forget just how much work it is getting ready for a party, until the next time I have to get ready for a party. ;) The house is pretty clean, and decorated with ravens, skulls and brooms and cauldrons. I started early food prep tonight...brownies with Halloween M&Ms pressed into the top, and there are pickled eggs turning purple in the fridge. Oh, and I baked teh husband's birthday cake. (He turns 29 again tomorrow. *g*) I always make his a Witches Brew cake. It's very easy, and very yummy. You mix up a regular yellow cake mix, and add in a cup of canned pumpkin, 2 tsp. cinnamon, and a cup or so of crushed up Oreo cookie crumbs. When it's done, I frost it with chocolate frosting, and press more cookie crumbs around the sides and sprinkle some on top. He really likes it. :)

So, yes! Party! If any of you are planning to come, and need directions or anything, let me know. :) For the rest of you, I'll post pictures later. ;)

This week has been three weeks long! Thank all the gods and little fishes it's over! And it's cold, and it's wet, and so of course selannia, bleukittie and I are going to the Maryland Rennaisance Festival tomorrow to tramp around in the mud and see Albannach. \o/ \o/ \o/

I invested several hours in this fic. And it was a lovely fic. A modern day AU with a wonderful slow-building relationship. I really, really enjoyed it. Right up until the end. Because there wasn't really an end. I was waiting for the climax (so to speak). The realization, resolution, declaration, and/or, you know, maybe even some SEX. I'd have even settled for a proper kiss. But there was none of that. I was just reading along, and suddenly the words, "The End" were in front of me.

I feel so unsatisfied.

I can haz LJ from work! I got me a new phone - traded my old Blackberry for a Blackberry Storm. It has a nice big screen, and a much better browser. YAYZ!

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and hair salons around the country are participating in Pink Hair for Hope. You make a $10 donation, and you get a free pink hair extension. I got my hair trimmed and my low-lights done this morning, and came home with a hot pink stripe in my hair! \o/

If there is a participating salon near you, I highly recommend it. There are three different shades of pink to pick from, in case hot pink isn't quite your thing. And if you're anything like me - always wanted to have some funky color added to your hair, but never had the guts (or the job description that would make such choices wise), it's a fantastic excuse to go ahead and do it! *g*

The internet police at the office have finally discovered that among all of the known social networking sites, they had missed one. They've blocked LJ. I knew it would happen one day. They'd already blocked Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and they'd even been blocking Dreamwidth for months. I feel so lonely and disconnected all day! I can't even get to my personal email account from the office. If it weren't for my blackberry, I'd go nuts! I have to catch up on the entire days worth of flisting in the evenings, and along with all the other things I need to do between the time I get home from work and the time I finally slink off to bed, there isn't much time for posting, or commenting, or reading fic. I is sad. And very pouty. :(

The good news is, my health is almost back to 100%. I've been sick more than not for the past month, but I'm finally feeling good again. I still get attacks of dry throat/coughing, and it has all strained my voice a bit, so I still sound a bit froggy, but my will to live has returned, so I'm counting it a win.

Shows I'm currently watching: Castle, NCIS, CSI, CSI:NY, Bones, The Mentalist, Flash Forward, SPN, Eastwick, Numb3rs, Dollhouse, The Good Wife, Project Runway, Destination Truth. I missed the first couple of episodes of Glee due to vacation/illness/lack of will to care about anything, so I'll need to catch up on that at some point. Right now I feel like I'm swamped with TV, so I'm not in any hurry. OH! AND MERLIN! Merlin is LOVE. I am all about the MERLIN. And ARTHUR. And especially MERLIN/ARTHUR. :D

And yes. I did watch SGU. I will probably watch some more, just to see if it lights any fire in me, and/or to see how it actually shakes out. I liked two of the characters so far. All the rest - not so much. I kept thinking that they really needed Rodney. Rodney could figure out how to fix stuff. Rodney should be there snapping his fingers at everybody.
